The history of Betty Boop shows us that she started out as a cartoon dog and morfed into a young woman. It is this doll like figure that gave birth to anime. Today, anime retains the big eyes and the racy scenes that made Betty so very max pop.
In fact, without Betty Boop there would be no anime today.
